Dear English Teachers and School Principals:
The Walworth County Arts Council is once again sponsoring the Winning Words writing competition, and we are asking for your help in publicizing the contest.
The Arts Council seeks to recognize outstanding student writers who attend Walworth County high schools. Entries may be prose or poetry, with freedom for students to choose their own topics and style, or students may choose to send a recently completed school writing assignment.
The deadline for submission of entries is April 1, 2017.
If a school submits at least ten prose entries, one student from that school will earn a first place award of $100, and a second student will earn a second place award of $50. At the county wide level, the Arts Council will be awarding cash prizes of $300, $200, and $100 to the first, second, and third place winners in both categories of prose and poetry.
We’re looking forward to receiving writing entries from your students. We appreciate the role you play in developing talented writers and hope that you will enjoy offering this opportunity.
