The Walworth County Arts Council is a non-profit 501C3 organization tha advances the importance and growth of the arts and cultural activities throughout Walworth County, Wisconsin. The WCAC has programs to help schools to engage students with visual and the performing arts.
We provide great opportunities for schools to compliment their Art Programs. We know that budgets are limited but developing creativity in all children is vital, no matter what careers they choose.
Art for Children—(formerly the Picture Lady Program) Paintings and prints from our collection of 250+ may be borrowed for a year’s use in the school. Folders are provided to help discussion of the artwork and/or the artist. Volunteers often do the monthly program to fit the teacher’s schedule.
Annual Elementary Art Show—Each April over 200 students in Walworth County Schools display their work and are recognized with certificates at a special reception. Family and friends are invited to this event.
Visiting Artists—Local artists (painters, sculptors, carvers, weavers, etc.) present day-long “hands on” workshops in the schools. Another part of this program has professional performers from groups, such as the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Florentine Opera, Opera for the Young or Lake Geneva Community Orchestra, present programs in Walworth County schools.
